Pomo'clock

A pomodoro timer that needs no install and starts the moment the tab opens. A focus and break cycle, a task list wired into it, and a report of the sessions. The design and the build are ours.

The timer: focus and break tabs, the countdown, the current task and the task list.
The same flow on mobile: a one handed countdown and task entry.

The Challenge

Most tools in this category are either full of ads or refuse to work without an account. The goal was the opposite: a timer that opens without friction, never competes for attention, and does not drift when the tab goes to the background, which browsers make harder than it sounds by throttling background timers.

The Approach

  1. // 01The pomodoro, short break and long break cycle sits on one screen, with durations configurable in settings.
  2. // 02The timer runs on real timestamps rather than a counter, so time never drifts when the tab is backgrounded.
  3. // 03A task list is wired into the timer, showing the task being worked on next to the countdown.
  4. // 04A session report was added so completed focus time can be reviewed.
  5. // 05Signup and installation were removed entirely: data stays in the browser and the interface was stripped back so it never distracts.

"The tool exists to gather attention, so the interface itself never asks for any."
